Measures for arriving at and leaving school
Staggering arrival collection will ensure that the adults and children on site can distance appropriately and it will reduce the risk of children coming in to contact with children from other bubbles. We appreciate that this may be a challenge for some families of multiple children.
Parents are to be encouraged to walk to school where possible. If children cycle or scooter to school, then they are to use the storage area to store their bike/scooter securely near the office entrance.
EYFS: 9.00am – 3.00pm
Year 1&2 (KS1) – 8.55am-3.15pm
Year 3&4 (Lower KS2) – 8.50am-3.10pm
Year 5&6 (Upper KS2) – 8.45am-3.05pm
The Start of the Day
Parents must arrive on time for entry to school, they must not arrive early or late. In the instance that parents have children in more than one year group, parents may wait with their children at the front of school, strictly following social distancing from other parents and children. Parents will be asked to drop off and leave, rather than remain on school grounds.
The End of the Day
All adults who are collecting Y1-6 children will be permitted to wait briefly in the playground, outside the classrooms. Only one parent per child should come onto the site to collect their child(ren).
For parents of EYFS children: EYFS will finish promptly at 3.00pm. Parents will wait at the Chestnut Gates (these are the main double width gates at the front of the school). Acorn Class parents need to queue on the left hand side and Apple Class on the right hand side. The children will line up as classes and teachers will supervise each child being collected by their designated adult. Once collected, please make your way home OR, if you are collecting other children, walk up to Willow Gate and use the one way system to make your way into the playground (as outlined below).
For parents of Years 1-6 children: A one way system will be in place for end of day. All adults will enter the site via Willow Gate - this is the gate just opposite the turning to Drovers Mead – this will open at 2.50pm, but please do not arrive at school more than five minutes before your child finishes. Adults will follow the path, cross the car park at the crossing point (the car park gates will be on lock down from 8.40-9.05am & 2.55-3.15pm) and walk around the building, past the Music Room and to the external doors of their classrooms. Staff will be on the gates and at points along the route to ensure you go the right way. When you arrive in the playground, please wait outside the classrooms on a socially distanced ‘star’ marking. Children will come out of their classroom door to you, and you need to walk to the rear of the playground (indicated by red barriers) and follow the one way system out of the playground and exit the school via the Chestnut Gates (these are the main double width gates at the front of the school). If you are collecting more than one child, you need to collect your children from eldest to youngest as this is the order in which they finish school.
It is very important that you keep your children with you as you wait for their siblings. They are not allowed to play in the playground or run around. We must all do our best to maintain social distancing.
Given that the external school gates will be open at 2.50pm, no children will be allowed outside at that point and must have returned to their classrooms.
Again, parents must not arrive early or late. They must collect their children on time so that teachers can release children safely. The playground will be open to parents to briefly wait in before their children are released to them. Whilst parents are waiting, social distancing must be adhered to.
Teachers will not be available to speak to at the end of day unless teachers initiate the contact. Teachers must commit their time to ensuring that all children safely leave their care. Parents can contact teachers via email or telephone if they have queries about the day or they can make a phone appointment.
If parents need to speak to the school office in person, they must follow the protocol. Only one household is permitted in the foyer at any time and you must queue outside on the lines whilst you wait.
